Join Carnegie Discoverers
Deepen your relationship with the museum by joining our giving society.
Carnegie Discoverers was founded in 2006 by Dr. Richard Moriarty, who wanted to share his passion for discovery and adventure with fellow Carnegie Museum of Natural History supporters. The mission of Carnegie Discoverers is to assist and support the museum by promoting its scientific, educational, and cultural missions to new and larger audiences for the institution.
Members enjoy exclusive events every year, exploring the many facets of natural history with experts as their guide. Our scientists and researchers give in-depth lectures, and Carnegie Discovers have an exclusive opportunity to engage with their vast knowledge and research first-hand. These opportunities afford our members a unique relationship with, and a keener appreciation of, Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

Powdermill & Richard P. Mellon Avian Research Center (PARC)
Give to Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s environmental research center to further their avian research.
Powdermill Nature Reserve (PNR) is Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s environmental research center. Located 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh in Rector, PNR is a field station and laboratory where researchers conduct diverse long- and short-term scientific studies in forest ecology, herpetology, botany, invertebrate zoology, and ornithology. When you give to PNR, your gift helps support the bird banding program that bands thousands of birds annually, their research on avian glass perception, international researcher collaboration, conservation efforts, and more.

Tribute gifts allow you to honor your loved ones for special life events like weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. Memorial gifts allow you to remember your loved ones, friends, or family members by donating in their name. There are multiple ways to designate gifts in someone’s name.
- Include a gift directive in an obituary informing people to mail memorial donations to the museum.
- Fill out this online form to designate a memorial or tribute gift by selecting the tribute information at the bottom of the form.
- Mail a check to Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s Development Office indicating who the memorial or tribute gift is for.
